WHO WE ARE
This youth services organization is a prevention-focused Washington State not-for-profit corporation. It was formed in 1990 by a grassroots group of parents, teachers, school counselors and health care professionals to address the needs of middle and high school age youth. The Youth Center became an ISLAND COUNTY UNITED WAY member agency in 1991. The SWYC BOARD OF DIRECTORS represents parents, teachers, business and health care professionals, church members and retired persons. The SWYC Youth Leadership Council also advises the board. Youth Center services are provided by paid professional and para-professional STAFF and caring volunteers.
